Looking to set the perfect ambience for that dinner party, movie night, or quiet reading night in? Well, there’s a simple tool that can help you create just the right vibe for all of these moments—Nanoleaf Scenes can be tailored to any activity!

Nanoleaf Scenes are lighting animations—or a collection of animations—which run on your Nanoleaf or smart home devices. You have the option of creating Color Scenes or Rhythm Scenes and uploading them to the Nanoleaf Community (check out this blog post for more info about the different types of Scenes). But the question is…how exactly do you do that? And that’s my cue! We’ve put together aa step by step guide on creating your own Scenes so you can easily get started today.

Step 1: Choose the Type of Scene

To create a Scene, open the Nanoleaf App and select your device. Then, tap the plus icon in the top right and select the type of Scene you would like to create—you can choose a Paint Scene, Dynamic Scene, or Layered Scene.

Step 2: Creating a Paint Scene

With Paint Scenes, you can create Static Color Scenes by selecting the palette that you would like or creating a new palette of your own to paint the panels.

  1. You will be prompted to select an existing palette or add a new palette of your own.
  2. To add a new color palette, select your first color on the color wheel and select the plus button to add additional colors.
  3. Instead of using the color wheel, you can also tap the ‘#’ sign to enter a color code or select different temperatures of white.
  4. Once you have a palette selected, you can tap your desired color at the bottom of the screen and then tap the panels you wish to paint in that color!

Step 3: Creating a Dynamic Scene

When it comes to Dynamic Scenes, you can choose between a Color Scene or Rhythm Scene:

  • Color Scenes: select a palette or create your own palette. You’ll also select the Motion for the Scene which will determine how it’s animated!
  • Rhythm Scenes: animate your lights to the beat of your music with the built-in Music Visualizer. Select a Rhythm motion and watch as the panels respond based on sound frequencies, volume, or beats!

  4. Once you created your Scene, tap the save button at the top right of the screen and give your new Scene a name.

If you have multiple products including more than one set of light panels, light bulbs or lightstrips, you can create Group Scenes that let you control them all at once! Whether you want all your panels to do the same motion or different motions (having each product play a different scene), you can control it all with a single touch.

  1. In the ‘Group’ section in your Nanoleaf App, select from preset Group Scenes or create your own by selecting ‘Manage’.
  2. There you can select between your light panel sets and the effects you want each of your sets to have!

Nanoleaf Scenes is truly a one-of-a-kind feature that helps elevate your smart home. Experience dynamic lighting Scenes or watch your favorite music come to life with exciting rhythm Scenes—with this feature, the possibilities and creativity are endless.
