It’s June! Do you know what that means?? 👀

If you guessed Pride month, you’d be right. Taking place all over the world, Pride month is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQ+ community. It’s about celebrating the progress that has been made toward equality, freedom, and acceptance while recognizing there’s work still that needs to be done.

To make this year’s Pride experience extra unique and special, Nanoleaf has partnered with ACT (AIDS Committee of Toronto) and tiptap to bring an interactive pop art installation to Toronto’s Union Station. Continue reading to explore how you can stand in solidarity with us, plus you’ll learn about the impact of your donation to ACT, as well as an exciting contest opportunity!

Who Is ACT (AIDS Committee of Toronto)?

Founded in 1983, ACT works to reduce new HIV infections in Toronto and promotes the independence, dignity, health, and well-being of people living with HIV and AIDS and those at increased risk of HIV. ACT offers a variety of FREE programs including one-on-one counseling and group-based psychosocial and mental health supports, employment services, community, and online education and outreach, and unique programming for gay, bi, queer men, women, and young people living with HIV.

How Is Nanoleaf Supporting ACT?

Nanoleaf also has deep roots in Toronto, with the company founded here and our current HQ right in the heart of the city. We’re dedicated to creating positive experiences for our communities and celebrating the diversity of Toronto. By partnering with ACT for Pride 2022, we hope to raise awareness on current issues related to HIV health and prevention, along with other sexual and mental health issues and inequities experienced by  2SLGBTQ+ communities.

So in this spirit of community, we’ve created a unique Pride experience that combines interactive lighting, art, and a way to give back! Check out our interactive Identity Wings at Union Station.

These impressive Identity Wings are composed of 207 individual Nanoleaf Shapes light panels, making them nearly 8 feet wide and 4 feet high—giving a new definition to “strength in numbers!” When a donation is made, the wings will come to life with different Pride flags. The gray wings will transform into the Pride flag of your choice; watch as the wings soar with the brilliant colors of the rainbow! Show off your flag and pick between the Traditional Rainbow flag, the Transgender flag, the Bisexual flag, the Lesbian flag, or the Gender Non-binary flag.

P.S. Don’t forget to share your picture with the wings using #FlywithPride (see contest detail at the bottom). All proceeds go to ACT.

Nanoleaf is working with tiptap to make donating as easy as a simple tap. With tiptap, touchless donations are made easier with their wireless and contactless payment receiver—each device accepts Visa, Mastercard, Interac, mobile wallet payments, and Amex. Watch as the wings come to life with your contribution! Simply tap your card to donate (each donation is $3) and choose your Pride flag to paint on the wings. Learn more about tiptap at tiptappay.com.

Donate in 3 simple steps:

Who Benefits From Your Donations?

HIV & AIDS affects many people in our community:

• Approximately 8,000 people are currently living with HIV in Toronto.
• Over 500 people each year are newly diagnosed with HIV. This figure has been steadily increasing since 2014 despite new treatments and prevention options like PrEP.
• More men than women are affected by HIV in Toronto but it affects both men and women.

Donations at the Identity Wings will go towards supporting family, friends, and those directly affected in this community through services provided by ACT such as:
